Megaracer on TypeRacer
I have been given a Megaracer position on Typeracer in Orkut for reaching the mark of 89 words per minute (average). My top speed in 95 words per minute. I played 45 races and won most of them.

Use VLC media player, its good
VLC media player is a software made to run any type of media file. Yeah, it can run most of the media files in the world. Its a best hack. Why go for many softwares when there is a one for all?
Remote desktop software
Remote desktop softwares make two computers into one. Its a software using which you can work on another computer. People wanted a way to work on their office computers from home. To solve this problem, remote desktop software were made. Most of them are expensive, there are some freewares too.
Have you ever used a remote desktop software? I used many to work on a computer in USA from India. It felt as if I was sitting infront of the second computer. My internet speed is good and that helped a lot too. I could work on a computer which was located thousands of miles away, so easily. I was amazed and excited.
These softwares are not new and have been in the market for sometime now, they have advanced a lot. Its very easy to work with it when you have a fast internet connection.
Internet connections these days are becoming faster and faster. Especially after the introduction of broadband. Broadband DSL internet changed the entire internet experience. I have a 2 mbps ADSL connection. Websites like YouTube wouldn’t be there if not for high speed, low cost internet.
It is also the same reason that remote desktop software are popular now. With high speed internet you can access another persons computer.
This has helped software companies a lot. It becomes easy to provide assistance this way. A good software company provides good support. Now support staff can provide assistance to customers using remotely using remote desktop software. A happy customer will refer more customers and thus the business will grow. In a way these softwares have helped business to grow rapidly.
Security issues are definetly there. Using a remote desktop software, a hacker can enter your computer. Hackers use softwares like these to steal data. Usually credit card details, email ids and passwords are stolen and sold. Hackers can use the same technology in a remote desktop software and make a malware. A malware of this type can also be called as a spyware. A hacker will use this type of tool to spy on what you are doing. Companies making these software are working hard on the security issues too. Different protocols are being made to make the pathway safer. Every field has its pros and cons, this is probably the only one here.
While chosing a good remote desktop software, select a one that you require. The costliest is not necessarily the best. Do some research on the internet and you will find lot of good information. You can also try open source remote desktop software (risks can be there).
If you don’t want to use software made by other companies, Windows provides a good remote desktop software called as Remote Assistance. You will find it in the start menu. It is a simple tool, very easy to work on and explanation on using is not needed, its too easy. Most IT guys use it cos its free and readily available. It was a good plan by Microsoft to include this tool. They understand the needs of their customers real well.
Can you think of some good use of a remote desktop software? I say it will help a lot of people working in IT department, like me. They wouldn’t have to go from one floor to another to fix a small problem, they can do it from their office. Intranet speed is very high usually, the work will be even quicker than normal internet.
These software can also be used in the educational field. Teaching can be done remotely using software like this. It is truly revolutionary. I bet that many teachers are using this method already. Mostly used by computer teachers, how will you teach English using remote desktop?

Convert a PC into a Web Server
Hosting a website from your own computer or making a you personal computer a web server is not that difficult a task, all you need is windows and some software about which I will tell in this post. This idea hit me when I was sitting on my table and I thought why not give it a shot though it can be a security hazard. Also to host a website like that it is necessary that the computer is on all the time and with a 24/7 alive internet connection. I have a dynamic IP address which is also one of the issues. This is a PC Hack and does involve security issues.
Converting PC into a Server using XAMPP
To host a server you will need a server software like Apache running, use XAMPP for Windows instead of it. Go inside the Xampp folder and you will find another folder called htdocs in it, make another folder and name it ‘test’ and place a HTML file and name it index.html, its a must that you know how to make HTML files else reading this is a real waste of time. You can see this file when you go to http://localhost/test/index.html but people on other computers won’t be able to see that. The main issue now is to enable people from outside to see what we have placed in the test folder.
Problem that I am facing
This is exactly the part where I am stuck too. It may work for you if you enter your ipaddress/test/index.html and you can find what you ipaddress is in Whats My Ip but that method does not work as my modems firewall and computer firewall blocks external requests via IP Address, this happens because when I type my ip address it goes to the modems admin section and when users from other computers type it shows that they have no access or connection timed out and stuff like that.
Using a router looks like the best way to handle the situation, so I am going to buy a router or borrow one and make a test and if it works then it will be super cool and I won’t need a webhost to host small files for friends.
Don’t use a home pc to host real websites, do it for fun
Major issue with hosting like this is that the speed of file transfer will be slow because normal broadband connections don’t have very high upload capacity and when too many external requests come in, it will become extremly slow. This method is neat if you want to share music files with a group of friends or something like that but totally not good if you want to host a real website. Real websites like this one are best put on a good hosting server. Hosting companies buy a lot of bandwidth and have very high upload speeds, so those servers easily handle a large number of incoming requests. Also hosting companies have many servers and take constant back ups and computers are on all the time, its safe to go to a good hosting company.
Converting a PC into a web server, as I told you is a simple thing. I have not told the entire thing yet as I am stuck too, I have to go get a router and check it. You can install XAMPP and make the folder in htdocs etc.. and put your ipaddress/test (read the top part for more info) and see if it works. I will get the router and hope for the best, I will also try opening the port in my modem to make it work. I know there are other methods too, do you know any?
Note: XAMPP is not the only software like this. Apache guys have also written a manual for using it with Microsoft Windows, this manual looks complex but is very very simple.
